The city of Los Angeles has been implementing tougher graffiti laws. In addition to the current misdemeanor charge for graffiti damages over $400, the city has been working on a law to make parents of minors responsible for graffiti damages.
Don't get me wrong. At GraffHead, we love graffiti. But if graffiti is so bad, why are large corporations allowed to advertise to kids using graffiti? This sends a mixed message.
Over the Memorial Day weekend I stopped by the Nike Store in Beverly Hills. I could not believe my eyes. There were 5 cans of spray paint displayed, 3 Montana Hardcore cans, a Krylon can and a Colorfast can. They were on display to promote the Nike 6.0 line.
Corporate America thinks graffiti is cool, but if you get busted, you are on your own.
