Video: Los Angeles Graffiti - Year in Review 2010

Los Angeles Graffiti - Year in Review 2010
We like to thank everyone for support in 2010. It has been an insane year. Without you, the site would be nothing. You make it worth all the effort of documenting Los Angeles graffiti.

We have reached 1 million page views this year. Our first video was in February 2010 with the JDI Save Haiti production. That video's success with over 11,000 views to date encouraged us to keep filming. We released 30 videos this year with over 180,000 total views.

Not a day goes by when we are not on freeways, the streets, yards or train spots documenting Los Angeles graffiti. Despite the tougher anti-graffiti laws, we don't see LA graffiti stopping any time soon.

Thank you for your support. Happy new year! Expect great things from GraffHead.com in 2011!

Many have asked what graffiti crews and graffiti artists/writers are in this video since it goes so quickly. We compiled a list of all the artwork and footage in this video. We are sorry if we didn't show your work. It is just not possible to show everyone in a 2 minute year in recap video.

Only Time Will Tell - LA Arts District - Large Graffiti Production

Only Time Will Tell - LA Arts District
We featured a work in progress of this wall a few weeks ago. Last weekend, during the rain, we took some pictures of the finished production. This is a giant wall that took graffiti artists from around the world to complete. The artists are Rime, Revok and Witnes from Los Angeles, Askew and Deus from New Zealand, Vans, Dabs and Myla from Australia, Score from Germany. The wall has so much going on that we took lots of detail pictures.

Christmas Ninjas - The video

Check out what Jaber did on Christmas day. A quick clue: it involved opening some presents, painting the Grinch, and lastly, bombing some trains with some super fat caps. What did you do on Christmas?

Aye Look + More Los Angeles Chinatown Freeway Graffiti

Some of these have been running for a few years. Huge props to the Los Angeles freeway graffiti writers and rest in peace to those that we recently lost. The rest of the world will never understand the need to risk someone's life just to paint and get up.

Balcones Recycling - Merry Christmas - Feliz Navidad

Merry Christmas - Feliz Navidad - Balcones Recycling
Balcones Recycling is a cool company. It let's graffiti artits legal paint its trains. The Austin, Texas company probably realized that its trains are going to get painted on anyway, why not let those with skills paint on them. Check out the video at the end of the post from the company's March 6, 2010 Balcones Burner Bash graffiti event.

Santa is Fake - Bloch and Jaber

During the holidays it is nice to get a dose of reality. Bloch and Jaber put out this holiday public service announcement, that yes, Santa is fake. Graffiti on trains is great. You can paint your message in one area and potentially the rest of the country will see it.

Jealous Cowards Hit Los Angeles' Arts District

We don't like beef. All writers should work together. For graffiti writers, there is enough to worry about: cops, gangs and heroes. What we despise most is jealous people cowardly slashing pieces. It is so easy to sneak up and cross out a piece. If you have a problem with someone, you should confront them in person or at least leave a name.

A bunch of pieces recently got dissed in Los Angeles' Arts District. We are not trying to give credit to the people dissing the pieces. We are just bringing light to the cowardly behavior. Thankfully, we had pictures of the pieces before they got dissed.

Video - Kanos and Astro in Los Angeles

A few weeks ago, we showed a wall painted by Dytch CBS + Else and two graffiti artists from France. Check out this fun video showing them painting that wall as well painting at Venice Beach.

Mr. Barfman on the Westside

I love these Barfman characters. When I drove by I thought it was a wheatpaste. But it's actually done with a marker.

Props on this spot. It is probably one of the busiest streets in Los Angeles, located near million dollar condos in luxury high rise buildings.

Graffiti Video - 5 Cities Bet - Chicago

Two California heroes make a wager to paint 5 cities in one week. Do they have what it takes to conquer the states? Or will drugs, alcohol and women prevent them from winning 5,000 dollars and player passes for the player ball!

Took One Sweet Minute

This spot has been getting a ton of action lately. The crew spell out was a nice idea. Also, using multiple colors has raised the bar. We like the positive attitude: "Today's toys is 2morrow's Kingz"

Barfman Strikes Again

Last week we posted flicks of a character we labeled "Barfman". Thanks to Rough and Greedy, we learned that there are more of them in the city. The guy that is painting them has some heart. He is picking high traffic areas and using multiple colors to paint these clever characters. We hope to see more of them. Go Barfman!

Nighttime in Los Angeles

There is something special about taking nighttime pictures. Especially if they are of pictures of graffiti. You can't just walk up to a wall, take a picture and leave. You have to set up your tripod, scope out the light and use a super slow shutter speed. As a photographer you get to appreciate the wall even more since you are starring at it for much longer while waiting for your picture to complete. The results are usually worth the wait.
