Bombing on the Westside

Here is a quick set of some bombing on the Westside of Los Angeles. Things don't run that long on this part of town, but it's nice to see some action.

LA Rooftops

Here is a nice set of works on rooftops from Los Angeles county. These pictures were taken from 2008 until recently. The westside of LA gets buffed more often so those rooftops are all gone. The Downtown LA rooftops are all still running.

Video: Mers CBS LORDS - Gnomes in the Woods

Los Angeles graffiti artist, Mers CBS LORDS, paints a set of gnomes deep in the woods.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

This is the idea behind Mers' painting in the woods. What if you did something just for the love of painting? Hike deep into a desolate area, set up your own canvas in nature and paint something that fits into the surroundings. Who cares if anyone sees it? was there to capture this experience. The timing of the release of this video happened to be exactly when Touchstone Pictures released the 3D animated movie entitled Gnomeo and Juliet. Update: 30 new pictures from the video shoot.

All I Need are 2 Colors

Here is a collection of works using only two colors. All of them are from Los Angeles with a few legal walls sprinkled in. When you are only using a light fill-in and a dark outline, you cannot hide behind multiple colors, your letters speak for themselves.

Risky MSK WCA - Arts District

This long work in progress wall in Los Angeles' Arts District has been finally completed. We first took a picture of this large wall being painted by Risk MSK WCA back in July of 2010 and noticed that the I was missing. We came back quite a few times to check and it was still not done. Last weekend we noticed that it was now complete.

This wall is very large, I took some pictures with people walking by it and also a car parked next to it, so you can gauge how large it is. Be sure to check out the long running Bates and Risk pieces that were on this wall before, from our 2009 Risk - Los Angeles graffiti artists spotlight.

GraffHead Top 10 of 2010 - 1: The Cats Strike Back

The cats took Los Angeles graffiti by storm. It was one of the most exciting thing that was happening to LA graffiti. The cats were showing up everywhere, streets, freeways, and sometimes incorporated into pieces. You could not miss them.

Even those not into graffiti took notice. The cats were showing up in really difficult spots that only a daredevil graffiti writer would attempt to get. What was great about the cats is that they were not about getting someone's name noticed, they were always anonymously painted.

They were painted purely for the love of getting up. Not putting the name with the cats also created a mystery. There was constant speculation about who is painting them. There will probably be no more cats, but at least we have pictures of the work. The cats strike back is the number one post of 2010.

Past June some jealousy occurred. A bunch of pieces were anonymously dissed. One of the pieces that was dissed was painted by Mers CBS. About a month ago, Mers went back and completely redid the piece.

GraffHead Top 10 of 2010 - 4: Took One Sweet Minute

We had to include this post because it got one of the most comments. They were mostly negative comments but one post getting 50 comments made us take notice. The other one that got so many comments was a November LA freeway graffiti report.
