Los Angeles Yard Hopping

Los Angeles has many graffiti yards. Most are tucked away without many in the public knowing about them. We usually document street level graffiti, but we have checked out a few yards lately. More pictures coming soon.

Rooftops in the City of LA

Here are a new set of rooftops from Los Angeles. Once again they are all running right now. Rooftops are our favorite. Toys are usually scared to diss it and the spots are usually very visible to cars and pedestrians.

Hi Graff - Hold Up Art Gallery - The Pictures

Eye SH
Eye SH

Last Saturday on May 7, 2011, we stopped by Hold Up Art gallery in Little Tokyo, a few hours before the opening night of Hi-Graff. Eye One and Cache were finishing up their pieces outside of the gallery. Huge thanks to Bryan for letting us check out the gallery before it opened. It was a very unique set up. The Graffiti artists painted directly onto the walls of the gallery. Professional prints were made from each painting and were available for purchase.

The graffiti artists featured in the show were the following:
Vyal, Slick, Defer, Risk, Chor Boogie, Cryptik, Rick Ordoñez, Axis, Codak, Spurn, Alec Monopoly, Augor, Zes, RTSYSTM, James Haunt, Andy Rios, Cyrcle, Teal, Bonks, Free Humanity, NICNAK.

Unfortunately, we were not able to take pictures of all the work, so if you are in LA, you should go by the gallery and check it out.

MOCA - The Los Angeles Graffiti Wall

Los Angeles Graffiti Wall at MOCA
There has been lots of positive and also negative things said about the Art in the Streets exhibit at MOCA in Los Angeles. We are not here to judge. This is one of our favorite installations at the museum. It is not complete, but manages to show many of the heavy hitters and influencing members of Los Angeles graffiti.

We took a bunch of close up pictures trying to highlight all the graffiti writers that hit this wall. Our favorite of course is the Oiler tag and throw up. For those that don't know, Oiler owned the streets of Los Angeles in the early 90s. Bus bombing, freeways, heavens, Oiler was up from the valley to East LA. It is also nice to see Wisk and Ser being on this wall. They were the early pioneers of Los Angeles freeway graffiti.
